Macon Trax News Release

[Macon, Ga.]—The Trax break their season long six game losing streak while breaking Miami's seven game winning streak in front of an excited crowd of more than 2,500. Macon took down the second place Manatees 7-2.

David Deeves facing his old college goalie for the second time in as many nights got the best of Sean Weaver. After scoring the only goal for the Trax last night, Deeves lit the lamp four times tonight.

If four goals were not enough, Deeves also added two assists. The six points by the Barrie, Ont., Can. native is the highest output for a Trax player this season.

Deeves started his big night with an assist on Ryan Rivard's goal 3:31 into the game. The 5'7" center scored his first goal 12:30 into the game on a great feed by Ryan Rivard. For his third point of the night Deeves once again assisted on a Ryan Rivard goal before the end of the first period.

With the Trax already leading 3-0 in the second period Deeves netted his second goal 5:29 into the middle period. Darcy Johnson put the Manatees on the board two minutes later.

Deeves brought hats to the ice early in the third period on a shorthanded breakaway goal. The lefty stole a pass in the neutral zone and carried it all the way to the net putting it past Weaver again. "Double Nickel" added his fourth goal at the 8:45 mark for the third period to finish his big night.

Adding the Trax other goal on the night was Steve Zoryk. For the first time in seven games the All-Star MVP was able to score. It was the winger's 22nd goal of the season.

Miami Head Coach Zac Boyer was not able to watch his team get manhandled by the Trax. Late in the first period the Manatee's Jim Quilty was called for slashing. Boyer did not agree with the call and threw a stick on the ice.

When referee Clay Sigurdson did not see the stick thrown, Boyer got the stick back and again tossed it on the ice in the direction of the officials. The coach was then given a minor penalty and a game misconduct. After learning he was ejected, Boyer launched his clipboard on the ice, earning him a gross misconduct.
