LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Loggerheads came out flying last night in their game versus the Alabama Slammers.

Team captain Rob Schweyer opened the scoring less than five minutes into the first period assisted by Bobby Clouston and Lenny Bonanno. Loggerheads All Stars Jim Callahan and Chris Cerrella followed with back-to-back goals to give the Loggerheads a 3-0 cushion heading into the third period.

The Slammers stormed back as the third stanza opened on a pair of goals from Chad Peck and the game tying goal from Jeff Mead.

The teams battled deep into the period trading chances back and forth before Harper was able to wrist the puck past Slammers goaltender Fred Beuabien to give Lakeland the lead for good.

"It was a great setup from Evan(Levi) and Bobby(Clouston)," said Harper. "They got me the puck right out in front of the net and I was fortunate enough to put it in."

The Loggerheads head to Orlando for the first of a home and home series with the dreaded Orlando Seals on Friday, Jan. 30th and back in Lakeland on Saturday the 31st.
