Lakeland Loggerheads News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. â Down 1-0 on a goal by Macon's Luke Murphy, Rob Schweyer and Joe Seroski scored less than a minute apart to give the Loggerheads a one-goal lead.
Unfortunately, that would be the last time Lakeland would lead in the game as the Trax scored five unanswered goals, including two empty netters, en route to the 6-2 victory.
The Loggerheads were outshot 43-20 as goaltender Carl Poissant made 37 saves in the losing effort.
Head Coach Tony Zappia missed tonight's game serving a one-game suspension stemming from a gross misconduct in last night's game in Jacksonville.
"We let up in the second period and they (Macon) took advantage," said Zappia. "We got ourselves into a hole we couldn't get out of."
The Loggerheads next game is Friday, March 26th vs. the dreaded Orlando Seals at 7:05pm. It will be "Faith Night" as church and faith groups are invited to experience all the fast-paced-hard-hitting action of Lakeland Loggerheads hockey at the discounted price of $2 off the box office ticket prices. Call the Loggerheads team office at 863-834-7825 for more information.
The Loggerheads face off with the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Miami Manatees and the Macon Trax in the WHA2's inaugural season. All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
