Trax Drop Heartbreaker, 4-3

March 21, 2003 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release

The Macon Trax have developed a reputation for not giving in to difficult situations and will have to live up to that reputation to extend their season. The Trax lost 4-3 to the Orlando Seals Friday night at the Centreplex, and now trail the best of five series, two games to none.

The next three games in the series (if all are needed) will be played in Orlando. Game three is Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.

Macon took the first two goal lead of the series on Friday night on a first period goal by Tommy Stewart and second period tally by Rick Emmett. But goals later in the second period by Terry Ryan and Todd Bennett tied the game for Orlando.

By late in the third period it looked as if the teams were destined for their second straight overtime game, but B.J. Stephens scored on a wrist shot from the left wing face off circle to give Orlando a 3-2 lead with just 3:09 left. Overtime loomed again as Stewart got his second of the game though with just 1:40 left to play. However just 41 seconds later, Brad Federenko put Orlando back on taop, and the Trax were unable to tie the score again.

If games four or five are needed in the series they will be in Orlando on March 25th and 26th at 7 p.m.

All road games throughout the playoffs can be heard on the internet at www.macontrax.com or www.IRN.FM .

The Trax hold their hour long Hockey Happy Hour at Locos Deli & Pub every Monday at 6 p.m., which can also be heard on the internet link. Playoff tickets and season tickets for 2003-04 are now on sale. For more information on the Trax, contact the Trax office at (478) 743-6010.
