Trax announce training camp roster

[Macon, Ga.]—Head Coach Tommy Stewart begins his second season as Trax ice boss with 25 players in camp. Stewart will have to cut his roster down to 17 when the season begins Friday night in Huntsville.

The Trax have brought four goalies, 13 forwards and eight defenseman to Macon for camp. Included in the mix are six returning players including last year's Most Valuable Player David Deeves and All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Steve Zoryk.

"I will have a tough job to get this roster down to 17." said Stewart, "The worst part of my job is telling a kid he will not be part of the team, but I am confident the guys that make the team will be high caliber players."

The Trax will practice in Macon and Columbus during training camp. Included in the week is an exhibition game against the Cottonmouths at the Columbus Civic Center, Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 6pm.

The following is the camp roster:

Forwards

Mark Allen, Dan Buckingham, Mark Cody, David Deeves, John Gurskis, John Levesque, Robert Macmillan, Craig Miller, Ryan Rivard, Alex Thymaras, Paul Vergeer, Edan Welch, Steve Zoryk.

Defensemen

Ryan Crowther, Lou DiMasi, Dominick Dawes, Craig Geerlinks, Casey Handrahan, Brandon Upstone, Mike Walling, Tom Wilson.

Goalies

Mark Cairns, Dave Marlin, Nick Niedert, Ryan Venturelli.

The Trax begin their 2004-05 season with a six game road trip on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 in Huntsville and Columbus respectively. The Trax will debut on home ice Saturday, Nov. 20 against the Columbus Cottonmouths at 7:05 pm. All games can be heard on Talk Radio 1670 WMWR, with pre-game starting 15 minutes before face off. Make sure to reserve your season tickets and single game tickets for the 2004-05 season. The Trax open their home schedule on November 20 against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Trax office at (478) 742-4849. Season tickets start as low as $99 and single game tickets are only $6.
