Florida Seals News Release

CELEBRATION, FL –This Halloween, the Florida Seals and their fans are teaming up to provide children off all ages a Halloween event to remember. The Seals first annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Party on Sunday, October 31st from 5-7pm, is a community event which celebrates Halloween in a family-friendly environment while allowing children to trick-or-treat in a unique way.

Vehicles provided by Seals fans will be strategically placed within the downtown Celebration parking lot (corner of Celebration Ave. and Mulberry Ave.) for a trick-or-treat line. The twist to making this event more festive will be having the vehicle trunks decorated in a Halloween and Hockey theme of your choice. Additional activities along with free pictures, food and drinks will be provided to assure a memorable time.

Seals fans are invited to decorate their automobile or table in Halloween and Hockey attire and enter the Seals "Trunk Decorating and Treat Giving Contest." The winning entry will be selected based on originality, presentation, and treat giving creativity. A replica Seals jersey will be awarded to the winner.

Fans that are interested in participating in the trunk decorating and treat giving contest must notify the Seals by Thursday, October 28th at (321) 939-2465. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today!

The Seals will also be participating in Sight Night, a community service project sponsored by LensCrafters and Lions Clubs International. The Seals are encouraging fans to bring used eyeglasses or sunglasses to the Seals Trunk-or-Treat Halloween party. Participating fans will be entered in drawings for great Seals prizes.

"We hope to collect a lot of glasses on Sight Night. It's a great way for kids to enjoy both giving and receiving on Halloween," said Florida Seals General Manager, Chris LiPuma. "Our efforts will change lives. Some of the people who receive these glasses may not be able to work because of their poor eyesight, and may never have seen their own families' faces clearly."

According to the World Health Organization, one-fourth of the world needs corrective eyewear, but many people, especially those in developing countries, do not have access to it. Each year, Give the Gift of Sight sponsors optical missions to developing countries such as Mexico, Bolivia, Laos, and Thailand.

If you cannot attend the Seals Trunk-or-Treat for Sight party on Sunday but would still like to donate eyeglasses, have no fear. Used eyeglasses for the program can be dropped off year-round at all LensCrafters stores or Lions clubs.

The used eyeglasses collected will be recycled and hand-delivered by LensCrafters and Lions Club volunteers to people in developing countries who can't afford eyeglasses. For more information on Sight Night, contact the Seals at (321) 939-2465.
