Travs Take Down Surge

Wichita Wind Surge News Release


WICHITA, KS - The Wind Surge left seven men on base and were out hit by the Travelers 14 hits to eight in tonight's loss. Wichita was defeated 5-2 by Arkansas in the fourth game of the series. Arkansas leads the series three games to one.

A pair of homers were scored in the third inning. The first was by Tanner Kirwer for the Travs who hit a solo home run and took the lead. Brooks Lee answered right back for the Surge in the bottom of the inning with his own solo home run that got crushed 428 feet over the center field wall and tied the game up.

The Surge took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Will Holland hit a high sacrifice fly into right field that scored Seth Gray from third base.

Robbie Tenerowicz gave Arkansas the lead back for the final lead change of the game when he hit a two-run home run over the left field wall. The Travs added two more runs in the top of the eighth off of a throwing error and an RBI single by Leo Rivas.

Wind Surge starting pitcher, Carlos Luna, pitched four and one third innings, allowed three runs on nine hits, struck out three batters and caught a runner stealing. He suffered the loss for Wichita. Emerson Hancock started for the Travelers and earned the win. He pitched six full innings and gave up two runs on seven hits.

The Wichita Wind Surge fall to 28-38 on the season and the first place Arkansas Travelers improve to 43-24. The Travs clinched the first half division title.

NOTES: The Wind Surge placed RHP Owen Griffith on injured list. Patrick Winkel extended his hitting streak to eight games.
