Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas scored five times in seventh inning to ice an 11-4 win over Corpus Christi on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Dickey Stephens Park.
Thanks to back-to-back wins, the Travs won the series, four games to two, and head into the final week of the first half tied with Tulsa for the top spot in the Texas League North.
Corpus Christi centerfielder Kenedy Corona dug into a 3-0 deficit with a lead-off home run in the third. Corona has clubbed three home runs in his last nine games.
Arkansas got a run back in the fourth before the Hooks managed to level the score in the fifth. Drew Gilbert opened the frame with a walk and later raced home on a double off the bat of Zach Daniels. Colin Baber, who has homered in three of his last four assignments, followed with an opposite field shot to left for a 4-4 contest.
The stalemate was short-lived as Spencer Packard's double capitalized on a walk to Jonatan Clase in the home half.
The Travs turned a 5-4 ballgame into a five-run affair by sending nine men to bat in the seventh. The frame was fueled by three walks and two hit batsmen. The lone knock of the Arkansas seventh was a two-out, three-run triple from Leo Rivas.
