Tulsa Oilers News Release

The Tulsa Oilers have signed their third veteran player for the 2006-07 season with defenseman Travis Smith joining the fold.

Smith, six foot, 200 pounds has played most of his career in Roanoke, Virginia in the ECHL and played 69 games last season for the Roanoke Valley Vipers of the United Hockey League. He had two goals and 23 assists for 25 points and 97 penalty minutes last season.

"He is a solid veteran defenseman that can play both on the power play and penalty kill," Oiler coach Butch Kaebel said. "His puck moving ability along with his strength and hitting will be an asset to our overall defensive core."

Smith played college hockey at the University of Denver, and has had American Hockey League stints with the Lowell Lock Monsters and Norfolk Admirals. His signing gives the Oilers three veterans under contract for next season. The team previously announced the signings of Henry Kuster and David Beauregard.

Oiler season tickets for the 2006-07 season are now on sale. The prices are the same as the 2005-06 season, ranging from $300 to $475. The Oilers have also instituted an automatic payment plan to make purchasing season tickets even easier and more convenient. Also new this year is a 10 game flex pack.
