SteelHounds Sign Young Defenseman Mark Lindsay

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds and Head Coach Jean Laforest have announced the signing of defenseman Mark Lindsay, 21, to a one-year contract for the 2006-07 season. This will be Lindsay's first stint in the Central Hockey League (CHL) after playing his first 107 professional games in the United Hockey League (UHL).

"Mark gives us a really solid defenseman that has a big presence on the blue line and that is very accomplished at taking care of the defensive zone," said Laforest. "He played for a strong team in the UHL last season and brings the desire to contribute to a winning club with him." I feel he is a great addition to our defensive unit."

The 6-0, 195-pound defenseman split time in 2005-06 between the Missouri River Otters and the Fort Wayne Komets, posting one goal, eight assists and 110 penalty minutes in 67 games between the two clubs. The prior season, the Westbank, B.C. native dressed in 40 games with the Port Huron Beacons (UHL) scoring three goals with five assists and 24 penalty minutes,

Prior to starting his pro career with Port Huron in 2004-05, Lindsay suited up for 96 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL) where he totaled 15 points (4-11=15).
