Amarillo Gorillas News Release

[Amarillo, TX] - The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League announced today that the club has hired Dan Fremuth as their new broadcaster and Director of Media and Public Relations, replacing Adam Kaufman who in May accepted a similar position with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Fremuth, 24, will join the club in early August and will handle the team's public relations and media coverage along with the broadcasting duties.

"I'm extremely excited and enthusiastic about this opportunity," Fremuth said. "I've heard only exemplary things about the Gorillas organization along with the town of Amarillo and the ever-growing Gorilla fan base. I can't wait to get there and start to get people excited again about Gorillas hockey."

Fremuth spent the last two years working with the Billings Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he served as broadcaster and Director of Public Relations.

"Billings was a great place for me to start to get my feet wet," he said. "I only grew to love the game of hockey more and more during my time there and I hope the fans in Amarillo will share in my passion and excitement for the game."

Fremuth graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. During his tenure in Syracuse, he worked at the college-run radio station (WJPZ) and interned with the Syracuse Stars of the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) where his hockey commentating first began. It was there that he and Kaufman first met.

"One of the first hockey games I ever broadcasted was a Stars game with Dan," recalls Kaufman. "He's a great guy who really knows his hockey. He taught me an awful lot, whether he realizes that or not, and I have the utmost confidence he'll do well in Amarillo. How could he not with such friendly, welcoming people around every corner?"

Fremuth grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, where his mother (Nancy), father (Tim) and two younger brothers (Josh and Jordan) still reside.

"My love for the game began by living and dying with the Philadelphia Flyers year after year," he said. "And no matter where I've gone that love for the game has just continued to grow. I know that will continue to be the case in Amarillo and I just hope the fans share in my enthusiasm for the upcoming season of Gorillas hockey!"

Season tickets and corporate partnerships are now available for the 2006-2007 season. Contact the Gorillas office at (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or visit the web at www.amarillogorillas.com.
