Fraser, MI â The Motor City Mechanics took on the number one team in the UHL tonight and outshot them 42-39 but, in the end, dropped a 4-2 decision.
Through a scoreless first period, both teams were held 0/1 on the power play. The Mechanics outshot the Trashers 18-10 in the first during much back and forth action. Danbury notched two quick goals in the early going of the second period to take a 2-0 lead. But the Mechanics fought back on a goal by Ryan Baker just minutes later. The Trashers Mike Bayrack tallied his first of two for the night to put the Trashers ahead 3-1.
David Bonk tallied his third goal of the season to bring the Mechanics back within one but Alex Goupil was able to find the back of the net once more for Danbury to take a two goal lead for the third time this evening. The Trashers scored an empty netter with 19 seconds remaining in the contest for the 5-2 victory. Rod Branch stood tall in net for the Mechanics, making 35 saves, while Scott Stirling made 40 saves in net for Danbury.
