Trashers finish strong with 6-3 win over Richmond

RICHMOND, VA--Drew Omicioli scored a pair of goals including the game-winner, while Danbury scored four straight goals to finish the night as the Trashers topped Richmond 6-3 on Friday from the Richmond Coliseum

Drew Omicioli's 29th of the season opened the scoring and was the lone goal of the opening period at the 5:03 mark.

Richmond's Mike Oliveira and Bill Vandemeer scored 50 seconds apart starting at the 4:39 mark of the second to give Richmond a 2-1 lead before Dave MacIsaac's 12th of the season tied the score at the 12:16 mark. After John DiPace netted his 20th of the season at the 15:46 mark for Richmond, Mike Omicioli knocked a rebound past Mike D'Alessandro at the 17:21 mark to tie the score.

The game-winner was set up on a pass by Troy Smith to Drew Omicioli, who fired his 30th of the year past D'Alessandro at the 2:42 mark to seal the win. David Hymovitz and Ryan Barnes added to Danbury's total later in the period.

Sly Daigle stopped 22 of 25 shots while Mike D'Alessandro saved 38 of 44. The Trashers maintain an eight point lead over the Frostbite with a 33-13-10 record (76 points) in the UHL East.

Danbury returns to the ice on Saturday at 7:30pm against Adirondack in the first Salute The Troops Night. The Trashers will wear camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
