Rocket City Trash Pandas News Release
KODAK, Tennessee - The Rocket City Trash Pandas failed to hold an early lead, falling to the Tennessee Smokies 4-1 on Wednesday.
A two-out rally from Rocket City got the Trash Pandas on the board capped off with a softly hit RBI single from outfielder Tucker Flint.
Trash Pandas starting pitcher Caden Dana (L, 2-3) held that lead until the fourth when a single from Smokies infielder Luis Verdugo tied the game. A pair of wild pitches from Dana later in the inning would score two more runs and put the Smokies up 3-1.
Tennessee added to its lead in the sixth as outfielder Cole Roederer drove in a run on a fielder's choice against the Trash Pandas bullpen.
After Smokies starting pitcher Chris Kachmar tossed the first 3.2 innings of the game, the bullpen took over from there led by performances from Blake Whitney (W, 1-0) and Cam Sanders (S, 2)
Rocket City was unable to mount a comeback, evening the six-game series at one game apiece.
The Trash Pandas will face the Smokies for game three of the series on Thursday. First pitch against the Smokies is slated for 6:00 p.m. Josh Caray will have the call on WZZN 97.7-HD2.
Probable Starters: Chase Chaney (RCT) vs. Kyle McGowin (TNS)
