Transportation Plan For One Direction Concert

WINNIPEG, MB., July 22, 2015 - This Friday, July 24th, the One Direction concert at Investors Group Field will see a modified version of the regular Bomber game day transportation service put into place.

On-campus parking, the Park & Ride service, and Winnipeg Transit will all operate, with some key changes specific for this concert event.

Fans are encouraged to arrive a bit early to ensure they don't miss any of this great show.

Merchandise will be available to the public beginning at 12:00pm in the Tailgate at the Plaza area outside of Gate 2 at the corner of University Crescent and Chancellor Matheson Road. There will also be merchandise for sale near Gate 1 before the show. A concert ticket is not required to access the merchandise tents.

The Plaza will offer food and beverage vendors and restrooms before the show as well.

ON-CAMPUS PARKING

Advance parking passes are on sale now through Ticketmaster for $20.00 per vehicle. On site cash parking will be available beginning at 3:00pm on the day of the show.

Usual terms and conditions for University of Manitoba parking lots will apply; however at 3:00pm, parking attendants will assist advance pass holders and cash parking patrons to designated parking locations. Full event day parking plan is in effect at 5:30pm.

PARK & RIDE

Starting 90 minutes prior to the scheduled concert start time, Park & Rides 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9 will operate. Park & Ride #9 is the newest Park & Ride, located at the Southdale Red River Co-op Food Store. Blue Bomber Park & Rides 5, 6, 7, and 8 will not operate for the concert.

There is a $5.00 charge per person to use the Park & Ride service, which is collected when passengers get off the buses upon arrival at Investors Group Field. There is no additional charge for the trip back after the show.

WINNIPEG TRANSIT

Winnipeg Transit has several regular routes that will operate to and from the University of Manitoba before and after the concert. Winnipeg Transit reminds all passengers to check their bus schedules before leaving.

Regular Transit fares will be collected on all Winnipeg Transit service on the way to the concert. This also applies to Handi-Transit service. Fares may be paid in cash (exact fare), Transit tickets or passes.

Post-game passengers can show their concert ticket for a free ride home when boarding buses after the show.

* 75 Crosstown East

* 78 Crosstown West

* 160 Downtown - University of Manitoba

* 162 Downtown - Ft. Richmond (U of M) - St. Norbert Express

* 170 Downtown - Ft. Richmond (U of M) - St. Norbert.

Park & Ride Service

There are five special event Park & Rides located across the city that provide non-stop service to and from Investors Group Field.

* Route 1 - Park & Ride Super Express - McPhillips Station Casino (484 McPhillips St) to Investors Group Field. The McPhillips Station Park & Ride can accommodate up to 500 cars

* Route 2 - Park & Ride Super Express - Club Regent (1425 Regent Ave West) to Investors Group Field. The Club Regent Park & Ride can accommodate up to 115 cars

* Route 3 - Park & Ride Super Express - Centre Scolaire Leo-Remillard to Investors Group Field. The Centre Scolaire Leo Remillard (1095 St. Anne's Road) can accommodate up to 125 cars. Please note the Old St. Vital Park Public Works Yard at 590 St. Anne's Road is now closed and is NOT a Park & Ride site.

* Route 4 - Park & Ride Super Express - Manitoba Hydro (820 Taylor Ave) to Investors Group Field. The Manitoba Hydro Park & Ride can accommodate up to 500 cars.

* Route 9 - Park & Ride Super Express - Southdale Red River Co-op Food Store (77 Vermillion Road). The Park and Ride can accommodate up to 300 cars.

Post-Concert Service

All Park & Ride service and extra Regular Service on routes 75, 78 (via Cambridge and via Kenaston) and 160 will be lined up on Chancellor Matheson heading west towards Pembina. Route 162/170 can be caught at its regular stop - University Crescent at Freedman.
