Training Camp Snapshot: March 15

The Coyotes resumed their fifth straight day of training camp today, with the team using the morning session as a walk-thru to install new plays. Today's practices were the last two the Coyotes will have at Exhibit Hall One, as the team will move into the Selland Arena tomorrow.

During the night session Coach Morris gave the green light on the hitting. Players were flying around the field smacking each other around during team offense and defense.

Here are some highlights from Monday's night session:

Play of the Day: During team offense, tight end Robert Theus Jr. caught a screen pass on the near sideline, put one move on the defensive back on was off to the races into the endzone for a touchdown. Theus Jr. returned back to the huddle with the entire offense pumped up.

Player of the Day: Rookie wide receiver/defensive back LaMonte Jones also caught a screen pass during team offense and darted through the middle of the field for a 30-yard gain. Jones has been sensational throughout training camp making a case for a spot on the 2004 21-man roster.

Quote of the Day: Offensive/defensive lineman Dempsey Davis on full contact practice today: "You have to love it when it's time too lay the wood! If anyone doesn't like to hit on this field, take your pads off right now and go home!"

Morris says...: On practice today: "We gave the guys a chance to hit each other today, which was good for the energy level. It was great to see the fire and intensity in the player's eyes today."

Atmosphere: The mood was unbelievable today out at Exhibit Hall One. The energy the team brought too the field today kept the fans on their feet for most of the practice.

Other Notes: The Coyotes will hold their first scrimmage of training camp tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at the Selland Arena. Fans are encouraged to come out and preview what the 2004 Coyotes team will look like...Season tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the Selland Arena box office at 559-621-4700.
