Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats are extremely excited to announce the return of professional veteran quarterback Ken Mastrole.
"I think we have the players to have a successful season," Mastrole said after being assigned to the Firecats by the arenafootball2 office. "The management and coaches have made the moves to solidify success this year."
The 6-3, 249-pound, Mastrole comes to the Firecats with a vast professional resume. Mastrole made a stop in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears, and he also spent time with the NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals. Mastrole also spent time with the Detroit Fury and the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League.
Mastrole also spent the 2003 arenafootball2 season with the Florida Firecats. In only 11 games, Mastrole hurled 55 touchdowns and ran in another two while completing 198 of his 326 passing attempts. He threw for 2,284 yards, averaging 207.6 yards a game. Mastrole ranked among the top in all offensive categories for the Firecats.
"The biggest reason that I am excited about having Ken back is because he realizes what I am trying to get done," Firecats Head Coach Ben Bennett said. "I do not have to spend the time teaching him any of the basics; I can focus on building third and fourth generation skills."
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native started his collegiate career with the University of Maryland before finishing his career with the University of Rhode Island where he threw for 2,112 yards and accounted for ten Terrapin touchdowns.
