Montreal Alouettes News Release
Sherbrooke, June 1, 2015 - Poor weather conditions awaited the Montreal Alouettes for a second straight day, forcing the team to practice at the MultiSport Roland-Dussault indoor complex. 24 hours after the opening of training camp, the players picked right up where they had left off the day before keeping the intensity level high.
Even indoors, both practices took place at a frenetic pace giving way to several interesting matchups and more spectacular plays. The speed and execution of the plays were raised from the previous day, reflecting the intensity of this year's training camp.
Still under the watchful eyes of the Quebec University-level coaches, several players were able to raise eyebrows by showcasing their skills and making exciting plays. For a second straight day, veteran slotback Nik Lewis had an excellent outing, he who caught a superb throw from Tanner Marsh for a touchdown. The 12-year CFL veteran has made his presence felt on numerous occasions. Sherbrooke-native Samuel Giguère is also settling quite rapidly with his new team, as he stood out among receivers in Monday's training sessions with multiple outstanding grabs.
S.J. Green also had a great day on the field, as he keeps making every catch look easy. He still wowed the crowd by making a superb 60-yard catch. The most circus-like catch came from rookie Chandler Jones who managed to catch a ball that was tipped by 3 teammates before landing safely in his hands.
On defense, safety Mike Edem and linebacker Bear Woods each pilfered a pass.
Quarterback Jonathan Crompton really showcased his leadership skills on the field today, as he could often be seen discussing strategy with his talented receiving corps. The Alouettes quarterback really took control as he shows more and more leadership on the team he helped reach the Eastern Final last year.
All draft selections are now under contract
Furthermore, the Alouettes signed their 2015 first round pick (fourth overall), linebacker Chris Ackie, to a 3-year deal. All of the team's 2015 draft picks are now under contract and at training camp.
Tomorrow
The 2015 Alouettes Training Camp will continue tomorrow at Coulter Field, as the team will partake in a single practice beginning at 8:30 a.m.
