TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums'(24-33) overcame losing a three run lead as they walk-off against the Gateway Grizzlies(29-30), by the final score of 4-3.
The Beach Bums took an early lead in the top of the first inning. With one out, Ryan Bottger reached on an infield single. Two batters later, Will Kengor blasted his seventh home run of the season, over the right field wall and it was 2-0. In the fourth, Elijah Trail led off with a grounds-rule double that one-hopped the left field wall. Steven Patterson laid down a sacrifice bunt to move him over to third successfully. Trail then came in to score on an RBI single by Giancarlo Brugnoni.
Gateway fought back in the seventh inning, starting with a walk issued to Josh Bunselmeyer. After a pop out, San Fischer was also walked. The Bums made a pitching change but Cody Livesay immediately slammed a grounder off the leg of the new hurler to load the bases. Craig Massoni then cleared the bases with a three-run double to centerfield, tying the game at three.
After the Grizzlies went down in order in the top of the ninth, Elijah Trail led off the bottom of the ninth with a chance to win the game. With a 1-2 count, he blasted a rocket solo homer over the left field fence, his fifth long-ball of the season, to win the game.
Andrew Brockett pitched that perfect ninth to earn the win and improve to 3-3. JaVaun West is dealt the loss after giving up the walk-off to drop to 1-4. The Bums' Dylan Stoops went 6 2/3 innings in a quality start, allowing two runs on four hits, five walks, and struck out three. Luke Barker settled down after allowing the tying run to go 1 1/3 innings and striking out three
Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums travel south to O'Fallon, MO to start a three game series against the River City Rascals. Michael Shreve gets the start for the Bums while Josh Wright will go for Gateway. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35pm and Tom Willms will have the Miller Lite Pre-Game Show at 7:15pm, on 101.9- The Bay.

The Beach Bums Box Office & Gift Shop are now open with non-gameday hours of 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm on Saturday. Wuerfel Park is closed on non-gameday Sundays.
