MISSISSAUGA, ON - As the holiday season is fast approaching the Mississauga Steelheads are proud to work alongside the Peel Regional Police and the Salvation Army for our annual Toys for Tots game on Friday night against the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds. At Friday nights game the Steelheads will be collecting new unwrapped toys, cash and Canadian Tire money to support under privileged children between the ages of 0-14.
Once again, this year the Steelheads are working with the Peel Regional Police and the Salvation to help make a difference for over 1000 families in need this Christmas.
Constable Laura Tyrer, Toys for Tots Co-Chair comments on behalf of the toy campaign, "By collecting new unwrapped toys for under privileged children within our Region of Peel community, we provide a little magic to many children in need and create a lifetime of memories. The Steelheads have been hosting an annual game on our behalf for many years. Their generous support towards the campaign has helped us immensely."
Salvation Army representative, Major Doug Binner adds, "The Salvation Army is always ready to meet the needs of those less fortunate in our community. This year the Steelheads Hockey Club is partnering with TSA to meet needs in our community directly.
The Steelheads, Peel Regional Police and the Salvation Army encourage all fans attending the game to bring a new unwrapped toys, cash and Canadian Tire money with them to Friday nights game. Major Doug Binner mentions, "The goal of the 2018 Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is $150,000 which will be used at Christmas and throughout the year to assist families in need right here in Mississauga. Your generous support at the December 14th home game will help to make a difference to thousands of families in need this Christmas. Thank you for giving generously when you see The Salvation Army Kettle at the game on Friday."
Tickets for Friday's game can be purchased online via Ticketmaster or during regular Box Office hours at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.
As part of the Toys for Tots campaign, the Mississauga Steelheads will be rotating shifts manning The Salvation Army Kettles around Square One Shopping Mall on Tuesday night. If you cannot make the game on Friday, come on out on Tuesday, find your Steelheads and help support those less fortunate in our Community.
