Asheville Tourists News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC-- Kannapolis' Thad Lowry has made 13 starts this season. In 11 of those starts, Lowry has limited the opposing team to three runs or less. On the two occasions the right-hander has allowed more than three runs, the opposing team happened to be the Asheville Tourists. Friday night was the second of those occurrences and the Tourists took advantage with a 7-4 win over the Intimidators. Lowry allowed all seven runs.

Forrest Wall led the way with three hits and four RBI. With the Tourists trailing 1-0, Wall's two-run single in the third inning put Asheville in front. Drew Weeks followed with an RBI groundout but the 3-1 lead was not safe. Kannapolis scored once in the home half of the third but Asheville responded on an Emerson Jimenez RBI single in the fourth.

The Intimidators plated the next two runs to tie the game 4-4; however, the visiting Tourists rallied in the top of the sixth. Jimemez put Asheville back in front with an RBI fielder's choice and Wall clubbed a two-run triple for some insurance.

The game remained 7-4 entering the bottom of the ninth. Asheville's manager Warren Schaeffer went right to closer Josh Michalec; one day after he let a three-run lead slip away. This time, Michalec was ready. The right-hander notched a scoreless inning to preserve the win and pick up his 14th save of the year.

Both teams committed three errors in the game yet the Tourists put together another offensive showcase. They ended up with 12 hits for the second game in a row. James Lomangino earned the win by tossing 2.1 scoreless innings. Grahamm Wiest started for the Tourists and went 4.2 frames leaving with the lead.

Asheville and Kannapolis are back in action on Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
