Daytona Tortugas News Release

JUPITER, FL -Riley Mahan's RBI single to left field gave Jupiter its fourth walk-off victory of the year, 3-2, against the Daytona Tortugas Wednesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. The Tortugas coughed up a 2-0 lead in the eighth before suffering their third straight extra inning loss.

Both LHP Sean Guenther and LHP Ty Boyles exchanging zeros before the Tortugas finally cracked the run column in the seventh. Malik Collymore reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on a Brantley Bell single two batters later. On the next pitch, Carlos Rivero drove both Collymore and Bell in with a double up the left field line to give Daytona a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, LHP Kevin Canelon allowed back-to-back singles to start the frame, and was then removed following a sacrifice bunt. RHP Jesse Stallings came in, looking for a five-out save, but surrendered a game-tying two-run double to Justin Twine instead. It was the second blown save in as many appearances for Stallings.

The game would remain tied until the bottom of the eleventh. Jupiter started the inning off with Aaron Knapp standing on second base, under new pace of play rules. He would move up 90-feet on a RHP Ryan Hendrix wild pitch. Following the wild pitch, the Tortugas elected to intentionally walk the next two hitters to load the bases and add a fifth infielder. That's when Mahan lifted a 1-1 offering from Hendrix in to the left field corner for the victory.

Boyles, who did not factor in the decision, took a perfect game into the sixth inning, before a Knapp bunt single ended his bid for perfection. He made it through four innings for the first time in 2018, working six scoreless frames.

LHP Dylan Lee (4-0) earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless top of the eleventh with two strikeouts, stranding a man at third. Hendrix (1-1) is handed the loss, allowing the winning, unearned, run.

RHP Tony Santillan (3-0, 0.64 ERA) will get the ball in the finale as the Tortugas look to win the rubber match in Jupiter. He'll be opposed by RHP Jorge Guzman (0-0, 0.00).

First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 6:30 PM, with coverage beginning at 6:15 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.
