KISSIMMEE, Fla. - For a second consecutive start, Bryse Wilson had dominant stuff on the mound for the Florida Fire Frogs, as the 20-year-old tossed another 6.2 of scoreless baseball in a no-decision on Wednesday night at Osceola County Stadium. Unfortunately for the home team, the Palm Beach Cardinals handed the Fire Frogs a 6-3 loss on Wednesday night.

Wilson recorded nine groundouts, and set a season-high with seven strikeouts on the night. Over his last two starts, the right-hander has not allowed a run over 13.1 innings of work, while giving up six hits, four walks and striking out 11. The 2016 fourth-round draft pick lowered his league-leading ERA from 0.45 to 0.34 with the strong outing.

Palm Beach (14-12) had an early scoring chance against the starter in the first after Evan Mendoza reached on an errant throw from Jordan Rodgers at first, but left the man stranded at second. The away team put runners at first and second in the fourth, but Wilson struck out Dylan Carlson and Ryan McCarvel to elude any harm.

Florida (9-17) had scoring opportunities in four out of the the first five innings, but combined to go 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position in those chances, while stranding eight runners in the process.

The Cardinals plated the first run of the game with a two-out rally against Jon Kennedy in the eighth. Stefan Trosclair reached on an infield single, and moved up to second on a walk to Mendoza. Johan Mieses followed with an RBI single to center to put the Fire Frogs in a 1-0 hole.

For a second consecutive night, Florida pushed across two runs in the eighth frame to grab the late lead, as Ray-Patrick Didder (2x3, 2B, 2 RBI) shot a double to the wall in left to score Braxton Davidson (0x3, R, BB) and Rodgers (3x4, R) to jump ahead by a run.

Mauricio Cabrera (0-2) took over for the ninth, but was unable to hold the lead as the Cardinals scored five times against the hard-throwing reliever. Florida also committed three errors in the frame, causing only two of the runs to be earned.

Shean Michel (1x5, RBI) pulled the Fire Frogs within 6-3 with an RBI groundout in the bottom half of the final frame, but Jesus Cruz (1-0) struck out Cristian Pache (1x5, 3B) and got the final out of the ball game on Brett Cumberland's (0x4, BB) flyout to right.

The Fire Frogs will go for the series victory over the Cardinals in the rubber match of the three-game series at Osceola County Stadium on Thursday night. RHP Jeremy Walker (0-2, 7.85) toes the rubber for Florida against Palm Beach's LHP Ian Oxnevad (1-2, 3.86). First pitch is set for 6:31 p.m.
