Toros Host Public Safety Night

AUSTIN, TX (March 9, 2009) - The Austin Toros will honor public safety employees on Tuesday, March 10th when they take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center. The night's festivities will kick-off with the annual "Guns N Hoses" game between the Austin Police Department and Austin Fire Department at 5:30 p.m. New Fire Chief, Rhoda Mae Kerr, will present the game ball at tipoff. Additionally, the Toros will honor the late Dr. M. James Moritz, co-founder of The 100 Club of Central Texas, a support organization for the families of first responders.

Toros fans can purchase a $2 raffle ticket Tuesday night and have an opportunity to win a gift basket valued at $400 courtesy of Cowboy Harley-Davidson of Austin and Paul Mitchell Systems. All raffle proceeds benefit the Austin Children's Shelter and The 100 Club of Central Texas. Fans can also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a 2009 Mazda Miata with proceeds going to the Austin Humane Society. The prize drawing for the Miata will take place at a later date.
