Toros beat Jam in double overtime thriller

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 2, 2007 - Loren Woods scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the Austin Toros defeated the Bakersfield Jam 112-107 in double overtime on Friday night at the Austin Convention Center. The Toros pushed their winning streak to six games and improved to 10-3 in the month of January.

Troy Bell missed two free throws with the game tied at 102-102 that could have ended the game for the Toros in the first overtime period. Bell stole the ball from Bakersfield's Patrick O'Bryant with 27.9 seconds remaining in the period but couldn't convert the free throws. Bell finished with a team-high 23 points and nine assists.

Austin had five players scoring in double figures including Cheyne Gadson (15), Jamar Smith (14) and Kris Clack (12). Brad Buckman collected nine rebounds and eight points for the Toros in 27 minutes of action.

Kevinn Pickney scored a game-high 26 points on 8-of-19 shooting and Anthony Coleman had 13 rebounds for Bakersfield, who dropped to 7-19 and has lost six in a row. Other Bakersfield players scoring in double figures included Coleman (22), Patrick O'Bryant (23) and Gerry McNamara (15).

The Jam and the Toros face off again in the second game of their weekend double header tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center.
