Last Week:
The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 2-1-1-0 in four games this past week. In their annual Boxing Day game at Air Canada Centre, the Marlies fell to Hamilton by a score of 2-1 in overtime. T.J. Brennan notched the lone Toronto goal, while Greg Pateryn scored the game winning tally at 3:53 of overtime. Hamilton defeated Toronto the next night at Copps Coliseum by a score of 4-2.
Carter Ashton and Sam Carrick scored for the Marlies, while Drew MacIntyre made 45 saves. The Marlies traveled to Comerica Park on Monday where they defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins by a score of 4-3 in a shootout.
Spencer Abbott and Greg McKegg scored in the shootout, while Drew MacIntyre stopped all four Griffins shooters he faced. In their final game of the week, the Marlies defeated the Griffins by a score of 3-1 last night at Van Andel arena. Troy Bodie scored the game winning goal, while Garret Sparks earned his first victory of the season.
Look Ahead:
Toronto will take to the ice for two games this coming week. On Friday night, the Marlies play host to the Syracuse Crunch, AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, at 7 p.m. Vladislav Namestnikov leads all active Crunch skaters with 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) in 17 games played.
In their second game of the week, Toronto will host the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, on Saturday at 5 p.m. This will mark the first time in franchise history that the Comets have visited Ricoh Coliseum. The Marlies defeated the Comets earlier this season by a score of 5-2 in Utica. Pascal Pelletier leads the Comets in scoring with 23 points (5 goals, 18 assists) in 25 games. Rookie goaltender Joacim Eriksson has registered eight of Utica's 10 wins so far this season.
