June 3, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release
The Worcester Tornadoes took game one of Sunday's doubleheader 3-0 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field behind another strong pitching performance from Dan Sausville.
Sausville earned his third win in as many starts for the Tornadoes, as he went seven innings and allowed just five hits. His defense helped him with two double plays and the former Capitales pitcher struck out four, while walking two.
Johnny Welch had the big hit, with a home run in the second inning to give him a team-high three for the season. Welch added a single and a flyout to finish 2-for-3 for the game. Catcher Alex Trezza added a two-run single through the right side in the third inning that plated Cameron Monger and Brandon Pinckney.
Kyle Greenwalt took the loss for the Jackals, as he went five innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. The righty struck out five, while walking three Tornadoes hitters.
Game two is scheduled to start at 4:30, with Jackals ace Isaac Pavlik and Tornadoes righty Kevin Cooper facing off.
