Worcester Tornadoes News Release
The Rox scored 4 runs in the first inning and never looked back, topping the Tornadoes 16-0 on Friday night at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. By the end of the third inning, Brockton led 14-0, thanks to six runs in the second and four more in the third.
Robert Bono beat the Tornadoes for the second time in as many starts, while Chris Allen lost to the Rox again. Melvin Falu went 2-for-4, plating two runs with a homer and scored three of his own, while Chris Grossman scored four times, including a two-run shot in the same inning as Falu's bomb.
Rick Asadoorian, Anthony Sosnoskie and Tony Patane combined for four scoreless innings, with Asadoorian and Patane each giving up a hit. In two perfect innings, the backup catcher Sosnoskie had a strikeout and induced three groundouts as well. Ryan Crespi went 2-for-4 in the ninth spot in the Tornadoes lineup, and Chris Colabello extended his on-base streak to nine games this season (and his hit streak to eight) with a single in the first.
Game three of the series is Saturday night at 7:05pm. The first 1,000 fans into the park will receive a free wipe board with a scenic shot of Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, thanks to St. Vincent Hospital.
