Game Notes: Starting for the Tornadoes will be John Kelly. The righty has been hot as of late, with a personal record of 5-0 in his last six starts. In those games, he has thrown 33 innings giving up six earned runs and 23 hits while striking out 29. His last time out was on August 5th at Pittsfield, getting the win and scattering seven hits over five innings, walking one and striking out two. He has faced Brockton, his former team, just once this season. In that 9-1 Tornadoes victory on July 8th, he got the win with six innings of work, three hits allowed, and seven strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .208 against the Leominster, MA native. On the other side, Jose Aquino takes the mound for the Brockton Rox. This will be his 8th appearance and 3rd start of the season. The righty has not faired well since joining the rotation for the Rox, giving up 10 earned runs and 13 hits in seven and a third innings pitched. Control was a big issue for Aquino his last time out, walking six of the 14 men he faced. He also gave up five hits and allowed 7 runs to score, all earned. On the season, he has walked 13 men while striking out five and giving up 20 hits in 18 innings pitched. The 6'2" righty out of the Bronx pitched in college for Concordia College and began his professional career last year with Quebec, appearing in three games with a 4.91 ERA.

Yesterday Afternoon: The Tornadoes got three runs in the 3rd and one in the 4th to hold on to a 4-1 win against the New Jersey Jackals. The win gave the Tornadoes the series victory over the Jackals and also improved their second half record to 11-9. Worcester had RBI singles from Omar Pena and Chris Colabello plus a sac fly from Nick Salotti to score the three runs in the first. They got their fourth run of the game off of New Jersey starter Jayson miller via an Alex Trezza solo homerun. Worcester starter Zach Zuercher picked up his second straight win, picking up the quality start with six innings pitched and allowing just 1 unearned run. The Jackals were only able to muster three hits against the lefty and were helped out by three errors in the top of the 6th in order to score their only run. Rick Asadoorian picked up his second save in as many nights, getting Adam Godwin to line out to first with runners on 1st and 3rd. Eight of nine Tornadoes collected a hit, with all nine reaching base safely. Chris Colabello and Mark Minicozzi both had two hits in the game. For the Jackals, Jabe Bergeron picked up the lone RBI on the night with a line drive to right field in the 6th.

Tornadoes:

Offense: Ryan Crespi leads the team with a .310 average followed by Chris Colabello with .304. Colabello has the team lead in RBI's with 51 and is tied with Danny Santiesteban for the team lead in home runs with 11. Alex Trezza has the team lead in doubles with 17, followed closely by Nick Salotti and Colabello with 16. Stantrel Smith leads the team with 10 stolen bases and 2 triples. The Tornadoes are now batting .275 on the season with an on base percentage of .350.

Pitching: Rick Asadoorian has the team low in ERA with 1.80, followed closely by Shawn Gilblair with 1.91. Asadoorian also has the team low for batting average against with .189 while Gilblair has the team low in on base percentage against with .257. John Kelly leads the team with 69 strikeouts, followed by Chris Farley with 50. Farley leads the team with 80 1/3 innings pitched while Gilblair leads the team with 28 appearances. The Tornadoes pitching staff now has an ERA of 4.65.
