Game Notes: The Tornadoes will send Justin Knoff to the mound for his 4th start of the season and his first against Les Capitales, looking to earn a series split with Quebec. The Tornadoes are 3-0 when Knoff starts and have scored 19 runs in those three contests. 2 of his 3 starts have been quality starts, with his best coming against New Jersey on July 21st. In that game, he went 7 innings giving up 2 earned runs while scattering 8 hits. He has also started twice at Sussex, giving up just 1 earned run and 7 hits during 11 innings of work. Knoff did face the Capitales three times last season when he was a member of the Skyhawks, going 1-1 with 19 innings pitched and 18 hits against, including 1 homerun. In those three games he gave up just 7 runs (all earned), giving him an ERA of 3.32 against Les Capitales. Opposing Knoff will be 6'4" righty Michel Simard. He has done well in his last two starts, giving up 17 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) in 13 innings of work. He has struggled when facing the Sussex Skyhawks, going 0-1 with a 17.28 ERA. However, he has done much better against the rest of the league, going 4-3 with a 4.40 ERA. Simard has faced the Tornadoes 3 times, going 2-0 with 18 innings and an ERA of 2.00. All 3 of those starts were quality starts, he has given up just 12 hits (an average of 4 per start), and has a WHIP of under 1. Simard has gone at least 5 innings in all but 2 of his 12 starts this season.
Last Night: Quebec needed to score 1 run in the ninth to go on to beat the Worcester Tornadoes 7-6 last in the 3rd game of a 4 games series. Quebec started off strong, grabbing a 5-0 lead off starter John Kelly with all runs coming in the top of the 2nd inning. Worcester answered back with 4 in the bottom of the 3rd before the teams played 3 scoreless innings from the 4th through the 6th. Worcester scored once in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 5 apiece. However, Quebec would re-take the lead with a run in the top of the 8th, only to relinquish the lead yet again due to a Billy Cather RBI single. Les Capitales would take the lead for good in the top of the 9th with two runs off of Albert Ayala, giving them an 8-6 win. For Quebec, Michael Thompson was 2 for 3 with 2 walks, a double, and 2 runs scored while reliever Andrew Albers pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to get the save. For the Tornadoes, Ryan Crespi, Nick Salotti, and Cather each had 2 hits and one double while Salotti was the only Worcester player to not strikeout in the game.

Offense: Ryan Crespi leads the team with a .336 average and a .411 on base percentage. Nick Salotti is second on the team with 15 doubles, 33 RBI's, and a .384 on base percentage. Omar Pena leads the team with 31 walks. Chris Colabello and Danny Santiesteban are tied for the team lead with 9 home runs each while Colabello leads the team with 41 RBI's and Santiesteban leas the team with a .611 slugging percentage. Crespi has attempted the most steals on the team with 11, getting caught just 4 times.
Pitching: Justin Knoff has struck out 10 batters and walked only 4 on the season. Opponents are hitting .238 against him and are slugging .308 off of him. Shawn Gilblair has the team low amongst relievers in ERA with 2.11 and opponents average against with .203. Gilblair and Albert Ayala have appeared in each of the past two games, with Gilblair throwing the 7th and 8th innings both times will Ayala pitched in the 9th.
