
Tornadoes Complete Comeback, 10-6

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Tornadoes scored seven unanswered runs late in the game to complete the comeback and defeat the Rockland Boulders 10-6 in Can-Am League action on Friday night.
Chris Colabello knocked in a three runs and Cameron Monger drove in a pair for Worcester in the victory, which helped the Tornadoes take the series from Rockland 3-1.
The Boulders jumped out to an early 4-0 leading in the top of the second on four hits, lead by RBI singles from Tommy Giles and Jermel Lomack. Worcester scratched across two in the next three frames, but Rockland stormed right back with two runs to take a 6-2 edge in the fifth.
Cristobal Santana picked up an RBI single after he drove Sean Smith home from second. Giles then drove home Vic Buttler from third to collect his second RBI of the night on a base hit.
The four run lead was not enough for Rockland, as Worcester bounced back to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Colabello nabbed one of his three RBIs with a single to highlight the three hit inning for the Tornadoes.
With the score 6-5 in favor of Rockland, Worcester tallied five runs with four coming late in the eighth inning. Monger capped the frame off with a two run triple to put the game out of reach at 10-6.
Mike Gardner is charged with his third loss of the year, as he gave up four runs on four hits in one inning of work. Albert Ayala picked up his first win in Worcester uniform after throwing just one inning.
Bobby Blevins gets the ball for Rockland tomorrow, as he and the Boulders welcome in the Newark Bears for the first time this season at Provident Bank Park. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., as the Boulders get ready to kick off their 4th of July weekend.
