Mottram, Pavlik Named June Players Of The Month

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Pittsfield Colonials INF Billy Mottram and New Jersey Jackals LHP Isaac Pavlik have been named the Rawlings Batter and Pitcher of the Month for June. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
Mottram hit .375 with three home runs and 26 RBIs in 26 games. He also scored 22 runs, collected 33 hits and stole seven bases. The Haverhill, MA resident had a June on-base percentage of .441 and a .636 slugging percentage. On the season, Mottram is batting .365 with four home runs and 27 runs driven in. The batting average is fourth best in the Can-Am while the RBIs are good for seventh in the league.
The 26-year-old was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 36th round of the 2007 MLB amateur draft. Mottram spent the 2007 season in the Cubs organization before joining Florence in the Frontier League in 2008.
Pavlik had a perfect 5-0 record with a 1.66 ERA in five starts, including three complete games. In 38 innings pitched, the southpaw fanned 27 batters while allowing seven earned runs, 29 hits and five walks. Pavlik is 6-0 on the year with an earned run average of 2.15. He leads the league in wins, is second in strikeouts (44) and fourth in ERA.
The Ramsey, NJ resident was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2002 MLB amateur draft. Pavlik has spent the majority of his career in the independent leagues, including all or parts of the past six seasons with New Jersey. He was also with the Chicago Cubs in 2006.
