New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, N.J. - The Can-Am League announced today that New Jersey Jackals' left-hander Isaac Pavlik has been named the Rawlings Can-Am League Pitcher of the Month for June.
Pavlik, who resides in Ramsey, had a perfect 5-0 record with a 1.66 ERA in five starts, including three complete games. In 38 innings pitched, the southpaw fanned 27 batters while allowing seven earned runs, 29 hits and five walks. Pavlik is 6-0 on the year with an earned run average of 2.15. He leads the league in wins, is second in strikeouts (44) and fourth in ERA.
Pavlik is slated to take the mound tonight when New Jersey takes on the first-place Quebec Capitales in the finale of a four-game series at 7:05 p.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium.
The longest-tenured player on the New Jersey roster, Pavlik is in his seventh season with the Jackals and is the team's career leader in games and innings pitched. He has taken home Can-Am League Player of the Week accolades six times in his career and earlier this season became the league's all-time leader in innings pitched.
A former standout at Seton Hall University, Pavlik was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2002 draft. He spent three seasons in the Rockies' minor league system before signing with the independent Northeast League's Bangor Lumberjacks in 2004 prior to joining the Jackals in 2005. During the 2006 season, Pavlik had his contract purchased from the Jackals by the Chicago Cubs and finished the season at Double-A West Tennessee, where he posted a 3.38 ERA in nine games. The 31-year-old has posted a sub-four ERA in each of his first six seasons with the Jackals.
The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2011 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
