
Tornadoes Allow Season-High in Runs & Hits in 18-4 Loss

The Newark Bears got a grand slam in the first inning for the second time in the series, and this time the Tornadoes couldn't recover. Newark piled on an insurance run in the first and 11 overall through three innings en route to an 18-4 win on Tuesday night. The Bears had a total of 22 hits against the Worcester pitching staff.
Zach Zuercher had his shortest outing of the season, allowing the most runs this season for the Worcester southpaw. He gave up six hits and nine runs in 1.2 innings, striking out two, walking four and hitting two batters with pitches.
Each reliever gave up at least a run for Worcester, and Anthony Sosnoskie pitched the ninth.
Nick Salotti extended his RBI streak to five games, while Brendon Kelliher went 3-for-4 in the ninth spot in the lineup. Salotti and Abraham Nunez each had two hits in the loss.
The Tornadoes will go for the win in the four-game series on Wednesday at 5:35pm, with number two starter Ryan Bicondoa on the mound.
