Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Isotopes used a six-run seventh inning to top Memphis 10-8 Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
After the Redbirds claimed a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth, Albuquerque stormed back with six runs of their own to surpass Memphis. The 'Topes strung together seven hits in the seventh, with two-run singles by Matt Angle and Alex Castellanos and RBI-singles by Joe Becker and Trent Oeltjen. The 'Birds attempted to rally in the eighth with a two-run double by Ryan Jackson but fell short by one run. Jackson dominated at the plate for the Redbirds going 4-for-4 with five RBI on the night.
Ramon Trancoso picked up the win for the Isotopes, allowing one run in his 1.1 innings of relief while Josh Wall notched his league leading 18th save with 1.1 scoreless innings. John Gaub suffered the loss for Memphis, surrendering four runs on three hits and one walk while being unable to retire any batter he faced.
Memphis and Albuquerque wrap up their three-game series tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Redbirds send Brandon Dickson to the mound with the Isotopes countering with Fernando Nieve. The Famous 'San Diego' Chicken will bring his legendary act to AutoZone Park tomorrow night. This Chicken has reached icon status as a sports and entertainment personality throughout the nation and the world. He was named one of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Sports of the 20th Century and was one of the first mascots to continuously attend sporting events.
