Tonight's Game-- The RedHawks will try to sweep the Cubs for second time this year in addition to earning their second road sweep when they finish the series at Principal Park at 7:05 p.m.

Last Night-- The RedHawks overcame a slow start at the plate and got some clutch hits in the later innings to take a 3-1 win over the I-Cubs. Iowa broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth, when Matt Tolbert tripled down the right field line and then scored on an errant relay throw. In the sixth, Jimmy Paredes reached on a fielding error by catcher Wellington Castillo and eventually stole second base. With two outs, Brett Wallace delivered the team's first hit since the first inning to score Paredes and make it 1-1. The RedHawks struck twice more with two outs in the seventh. Landon Powell broke the tie with an RBI knock, and two batters later, Paredes provided another RBI single give the RedHawks a 3-1 lead. Mickey Storey kept the Cubs scoreless over the final 2.1 innings to earn his first save. Sergio Perez (2-1) preceded Storey 1.2 scoreless innings to earn his first save since April 9.

Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- Paul Clemens heads to the mound, looking to end a personal two-game losing streak...Sunday against Omaha, Clemens tied a season high by going seven innings, but took the loss after allowing four runs...He finished his outing strong, retiring the final eight hitter he faced...After winning six of seven starts, Clemens has lost each of his last two starts...He has allowed four runs or more in four straight starts as well as in seven of his last eight outings...He'll look to overcome his road woes, as his road ERA is 9.95 over eight starts...Clemens is currently tied for third in the PCL with eight wins...Tonight marks his first career start against Iowa...Like Clemens, Iowa's Rodrigo Lopez looks to break out of a personal funk...After getting off to a great start, Lopez has not been same since sustaining a groin injury on May 25...In his five starts since, Lopez has allowed at least four runs four times and has taken the loss in each of his last three starts...He has pitched considerably better at Principal Park, as his home ERA is about two-and-a-half runs lower than it is on the road...Lopez faced the RedHawks in OKC on June 2...All four runs he surrendered came within a four-batter stretch in the third inning...He finished his start retiring eight of the last nine hitters he faced.

Opportunity Knocks-- The RedHawks were outhit last night 12-8 and had three less extra-base hits than the Cubs, but won because they went 4-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Iowa, on the other hand, went just 1-for-13 and left 12 men on base.

RedHawks Wrecking Crew-- In six games against the Cubs this season, the RedHawks have left the yard 12 times. Their season total currently stands at 93. They hit 88 homers in all of 2011--dead last in the PCL and 32 less than anyone else. Last season, only three players hit eight or more homers. This season, five players have already reached that mark, with four in double digits.

Mike Hessman: Cubs Slayer-- In six games against Iowa, Mike Hessman is 10-for-24 with seven homers and 10 RBIs. He has had a multi-homer game three times.

Wally's World-- Over his last four games, Brett Wallace is 10-for-17 with a home run and four doubles. Since returning to the RedHawks on June 19, Wallace is hitting .400 (16x40) with three homers and seven RBIs.

Snyder, Gonzalez Return to Iowa-- Brad Snyder spent parts of the last three seasons playing for the Iowa Cubs. In 159 games at Principal Park, Snyder hit .281 with 19 homers and 93 RBIs. Marwin Gonzalez--currently with the RedHawks on Rehab Assignment--played in 60 games with the I-Cubs last season, hitting .274/2/19.

Clearing the Cobwebs-- Angel Sanchez's seventh-inning double last night was just his second hit in 21 at-bats since being hit in the helmet with a pitch in Nashville on June 20. Although he has struck out in back-to-back games for just the second time this season, Sanchez still ranks as the PCL's toughest hitter to strikeout, averaging one strikeout per 13.71 plate appearances.

Telling a Storey-- Including last night, reliever Mickey Storey has allowed one run over his last 18.0 innings, with nine hits and 15 strikeouts. After giving up a solo home run to New Orleans' Nick Green on June 10, he has retired 30 of the last 33 hitters he's faced.

Offensive Ebb and Flow-- In the RedHawks' last nine wins, they have scored 77 runs (8.6 rpg). In their last nine losses, they have scored just 15 runs (1.7 rpg). The RedHawks have scored less than eight just twice in their wins.

Three RedHawks Named All-Stars-- On Thursday, the Pacific Coast League announced Mike Hessman, Jimmy Paredes, and Landon Powell were selected to the 25th annual Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 in Buffalo, New York. Hessman was voted as the starting first baseman, and Paredes and Powell were selected as reserves.

Against the Cubs-- The RedHawks have won each of the first six meetings with the Cubs this season...The Cubs have scored first in four games and the RedHawks have overcome deficits of three or more runs to come back and win twice...Mike Hessman tied a franchise record with three homers in a game on June 3 and tied a PCL record with five homers over two consecutive games between June 3-4...Last season the RedHawks won the season series 10-6, but went 3-5 at Principal Park.
