Lancaster Stormers News Release
National Pro Fastpitch Softball (NPF) is coming to the Susquehanna Valley this June. The PA Rebellion, from Washington, PA, will move a three-game series against the USSSA Pride of Kissimmee, Florida to York and Lancaster from June 25-27. The games are part of the NPF's regular season schedule.
The league is comprised of the very best athletes the sport has to offer including former NCAA Champions and MVP's, former Olympians, and some top international players. NPF is the only professional women's softball league in the country. Currently, former University of Texas All-American pitcher and USA Olympic Gold Medalist Cat Osterman is on the USSSA Pride roster.
After a game at Santander Stadium, home of the York Revolution, on Thursday, June 25, the series will shift to Lancaster's Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the Barnstormers, on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27. Both Atlantic League ballparks will be modified to fit the field dimensions for softball, just as Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA is for the PA Rebellion. The Rebellion shares that facility with the Washington Wild Things of Frontier League Professional Baseball.
Barnstormers' full-season and partial season ticket holders will have an advance opportunity to obtain tickets in the near future. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31.
The three-day event will begin with a softball clinic for area players at York on Wednesday, June 24 with players from both teams. Details on that clinic will be released at a later time.
"The most accomplished and decorated softball players in the world are coming to the Susquehanna Valley," said Steve Zavacky, General Manager of the Rebellion. "York, Lancaster and NPF are all anxious to see response from the local communities, considering those fans have been so passionate about Atlantic League Baseball in the time they've had their franchises. It's something new and exciting to try in two great markets."
"We are thrilled to bring this different professional sports product to Clipper Magazine Stadium," said Barnstormers' General Manager Kristen Simon. "This venue is perfect for fast pitch, and we look forward to a couple of exciting days at the ballpark rooting for our adopted team."
