LINCOLN, Neb. - The United States Hockey League (USHL) has named Lincoln Stars goaltender Tomas Vomacka the USHL Goaltender of the Week for Week 22 of the 2017-18 season.

Vomacka, 18, posted wins in both games against the Waterloo Black Hawks and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders to open March, extending his win streak to five games. The Nashville Predators prospect stopped 58 of 61 shots between both games including 33 saves in Friday's 3-2 overtime win. The Trutnov, Czech Rep. led the Stars to a 2-0 record with a 1.48 goals-against average and .951 save percentage over the weekend. Since January 30, Vomacka has wins in nine of his last 11 games.

In his first USHL season, the University of Connecticut commit has a 17-16-0 record with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage with three shutouts through 34 games. Vomacka is ranked in the top-15 among USHL goaltenders in goals-against average and top-20 in save percentage.

This is the first career USHL weekly honor for Vomacka and the second in as many weeks for the Stars, joining Wyatt Aamodt, who earned USHL Defenseman of the Week honors on February 26. Carter Long was also named USHL Defenseman of the Week on December 18, and Tristan Ashbrook was awarded USHL Forward of the Week on February 5. The Stars now have four weekly awards this season and eight over the last two seasons.

The Stars return to the Ice Box on Saturday, Mar. 10 at 7:05 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers for American Outlaws Family Night, presented by West Gate Bank. Group tickets for the remainder of the 2017-18 season are available by calling 402-474-7827. The Stars mobile app is also available in the iTunes and Google Play stores with "tap to buy" tickets, in-game push notifications and a rewards program that puts fans in the skates of a player.
