Seventeen points in 13 games last month has earned second-year centre Tomas Knotek the Mooseheads' "Citadel Halifax Hotel Player of the Month" award for November, 2008. Mooseheads' Head Coach Cam Russell announced the award at the team's monthly luncheon at the Citadel Halifax Hotel today.

The 18-year-old native of Kladno, Czech Republic, Mooseheads' first round pick in the 2007 CHL Import Draft, recorded points in nine of Halifax's 13 games during the month, including five multiple-point games, registering eight goals and nine assists during the month to move into the top spot on the Mooseheads' scoring list with 23 points, including a team leading 11 goals.

Knotek contributed points in five consecutive games between Nov. 02 and 11 (5+6) and followed it up with a four-game streak Nov. 21 to 28 (3+3). He scored the winning goal in Halifax's 4-2 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques Nov. 02 and added an assist to earn first star honors.

A four-point night (2+2) Nov. 08, figuring in all four Mooseheads' goals in a loss to Moncton, earned him one of three third star selections for the month. He contributed 3 assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to Saint John Nov. 25.

At the same time, first-year goaltender Mathieu Corbeil of Montreal, QC received the "Scholastic Player of the Month" Award, awarded to the player who best combines talent, academic and general performance. The 16-year-old, 1-3-0 for the month, with a sparkling 0.904 saves percentage, stopped 29 shots in a 4-2 victory at Saint John Nov.23.

Corbeil, 17, the Halifax's third selection, in round four (62) of the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft, received his award from Mooseheads' Education Advisor Ross Thompson.
