JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Johnstown Tomahawks General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations, Rick Boyd, today announced the tender of four players for the 2013-2014 NAHL season. Collin Finkhouse, Matt Meier, Aaron Bland, and Eric Tien have all officially announced their intentions to play for the Tomahawks.
Finkhouse, a center from Ada, Mich. currently plays with the West Michigan Hounds 18U of the North American Prospects Hockey League. He is third in the league in scoring this season, having gone 19-14-33 in 22 games. He was named "Pointstreak Peak Performer" of the NAPHL Blaine II Showcase event in Blaine, Minn.
Meier now plays with the Colorado Thunderbirds 18U AAA Tier I Elite Hockey League. The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native has 14 goals and 27 points (14-13-27) in 36 games this season. He has also stepped in to play six games with the NAHL's Kenai River (2-3-5) this season.
Forward Bland of Phoenix, Ariz. has gone 24-14-38 in 39 games with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U18 AAA Tier I Elite Hockey League.
Tien plays for the Richmond Generals of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League and has 60 points in 35 games (20-40-60) for 2012-2013. The Midland, Mich. native is currently fifth in the league in points, was selected as MJHL Player of the Week three times this season, and chosen to participate in the league's All-Star Game.
In the NAHL, a tender is a contract a player signs announcing his intentions to play for one particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft. Unless agreed upon in writing by the two NAHL teams, tendered or drafted players are not eligible to try out for other NAHL teams.
