Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - A three-run second, paired with a home run by right fielder Ka'ai Tom powered the Sacramento River Cats (38-48) to a 5-4 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes (40-46) on Wednesday.

A double by first baseman Jason Krizan, sandwiched between walks by shortstop Isan Díaz and Tom, loaded the bases with no outs in the second.

Catcher Jhonny Pereda and center fielder Arquímedes Gamboa each hit a sacrifice-fly before designated hitter Donovan Walton doubled home Tom to make it 3-0.

After a three-run third for Albuquerque tied the game, Sacramento regained the lead in the fourth when Tom blasted his ninth homer of the season to right field.

Third baseman Jason Vosler extended his hitting streak to nine and the River Cats' lead to 5-3 in the fifth when he followed second baseman Willie Calhoun's two-out double with a clutch RBI single. During his team-high streak, Vosler is 13-for-36 (.361) with nine runs, two doubles, four home runs, 12 RBIs, and a 1.202 OPS.

Righty Luis Ortiz provided a key performance out of the bullpen, striking out two in 2.0 innings before running into a jam in the ninth.

With the tying run on first and one out, left fielder Heliot Ramos made a game-saving catch, banging into the wall. After an infield single by first baseman D.J. Peterson put the winning run on, lefty Joey Marciano entered and forced a ground out for his team-leading fifth save.

Left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus (3-2, 4.38) looks to make it two in a row with a win on Thursday. He'll take on his former teammate, right-hander Corey Oswalt (0-1, 10.13) at 6:45 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Right-hander Shelby Miller was near-perfect as the River Cats' opener, striking out five while allowing one hit in 2.0 shutout innings. San Francisco's No. 16 prospect on MLB Pipeline, right-hander R.J. Dabovich (1-0), struck out three over 2.0 shutout innings of relief.

Krizan's second-inning double extended his on-base streak to 12 games. The 33-year-old is 18-for-45 (.400) with 12 runs, eight doubles, nine RBIs, and a 1.053 OPS over that span.
