St. Louis, MO . - The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.maslsoccer.com ) have been notified that today's game against Tulsa Revolution has been cancelled. This comes after an apparent reschedule of the game in St. Louis, something that was announced last evening.
"We want to apologize to the fans," said General Manager, Ray Kincaid, "We were in discussions all last night and into the morning and thought we had a solution by playing the game in St. Louis. However, this morning we were notified the game will not be played."
Here is a short recap of how things unfolded:
- Yesterday evening, as we were 5 hours into our drive to Tulsa, we received a call saying they are having issues with the turf in their new building. Luckily we were right in the St. Louis Area so we stopped and watched the Ambush play the Revolution.
- While watching the game, Head Coach Armando Gamboa, wondered if we could play the game in St. Louis, since both teams were already there. He discussed it with Ambush owner, Andrew Haines, and he agreed to host the game at 1:05 pm today.
- Discussions were had into the evening with the MASL, Tulsa and St. Louis and everyone was apparently on the same page, preparing for the afternoon match in St. Louis.
- At approximately 10am this morning we were notified that the game has been cancelled. No specifics were given as to why it was cancelled, just that the game would no longer be played in St. Louis.
We would like to thank Andrew Haines and the St. Louis Ambush for the hospitality and their willingness to work with the teams in effort to host the match. We would also like to thank the Chicago Mustangs players and coaching staff for keeping an open mind and remaining flexible as this schedule alteration unfolded. While they are very disappointed they were not able to compete in today's game, they have also been very understanding. And finally we want to sincerely apologize to our fans and all the fans around the MASL for not being able to reach a solution to play the game. We play this great game for you and we are saddened by not being able to do that this afternoon.
As we receive more information we will release it. Thanks for being patient with us throughout this situation, and go Mustangs!
