New Jersey Titans News Release
PITTSTON, Penn. - The Titans fell 4-2 to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights despite tying the game twice.
The Titans tied the game within the first three minutes after Andrew Durham
It took a while for the goals to come, but when they did, they came within three minutes of each other.
The Knights were first on the board - capitalizing on a long rebound off of a save from Spencer Wright's left pad. Paul Maust was the next to touch the puck and just beat Wright's second effort to cover the rest of the net.
Just a little more than a minute later, the Titans found their equalizer. Four bodies converged on a poke check by Wilkes-Barre goaltender Grant Valentine. The puck wound up tied up into between skates before Keegan Miller used Durham as a screen, to tie it at the 19:00 mark of the second period.
It was Miller's 15th goal of the season while Durham and Dakota Ford were credited with assists.
But there was still time for the Knights to get back out in front despite the fact that there was exactly one minute left before the second intermission. They also had to move the puck quickly and they did.
Braden Brown was first to get to another rebound left by Wright in his goal crease at while Paul Maust zipped a snap shot past to put the Knights up by two.
The Titans tried to use their first power play of the game, to get back within one, but Valentine was able to keep the puck out for the remainder of the game, including several highway robberies. Valentine finished the game with 42 saves while Wright had 28 saves
The series shifts to Middletown Ice World for Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m.)
