
Miller scores twice to lift the Jacks over Corpus

Corpus Christi, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes (21-21-4) saw their three-goal lead erased only to regain the advantage late in the third and hold off the Corpus Christi IceRays (19-23-6), 4-3, Saturday night at AmericanBank Center in Corpus Christi. Brennen Miller snapped a 10-game goalless drought while earning his first game winner, and second multi-goal game of the year.
Connor Wood and Cody Lichtenvoort waited just :19 seconds into the game to drop the gloves and settle a beef that that was created Friday after Wood was called for a kneeing penalty on Lichtenvoort. After the opening period Fireworks, Miller jammed home his fourth goal of the season and first in his last 10 games to give Odessa the early lead at 6:29. Gray Marr (13) then received a pass from Hampus Sjodahl and sniped it past Graham Hunt to give the Jacks a 2-0 lead at 10:42.
In the second, Cooper Zech (6) snuck a power-play goal past Hunt to give the Jacks a commanding 3-0 lead at 11:05. Carter Johnson finally got the Rays on the board on the power play at 13:20 for his team leading 15th. Lichtenvoort, who left the game earlier after a high hit returned to score his second of the season at 15:38 to get the IceRays right back into the game, 3-2.
In the third, Jimmy O'Brien (4) tied the game 3-3 for Corpus at 2:55, in his first game back after a month and a half on injured reserve. After three unanswered Rays goals, Miller (5) netted his second at 17:23 to give Odessa a 4-3 lead that they wouldn't be relinquished.
Dean Shatzer (9-12-3) earned the win making 45 saves on 48 shots while Graham Hunt (10-14-4) suffered his seventh-straight loss stopping 35 of 39 shots faced.
