New Jersey Titans News Release
On Thursday, the Titans took the lead in the first period with Luke Schoen scoring off assists from Arseniy Zharikov and Nikolai Meshkantsov. Springfield responded quickly, leveling the score at 1-1 through a power play goal by Conner Broadhead, assisted by Sarunas Baltrunas and Gaige Giblin. The second period remained goalless, with both teams displaying strong defensive plays. The scoring resumed in the third period as Skogen Schrott gave the Titans a 2-1 lead, but Ben Cameron equalized for the Jr. Blues shortly after, assisted by Joey Mugaas. The game went into overtime, where Schoen was the hero again, netting his second goal of the match within the first minute, assisted by Owen Leahy and Blake Jones, sealing the win for the Titans. Goalie Tyler Rounds had an impressive game for the Titans with 31 saves, while Amir Valiullin of the Jr. Blues made 36 saves. Despite the loss, the Jr. Blues showed resilience, fighting back to take the game into overtime. The Titans' victory lifts them to a record of 2-1-1-1 this season, while the Jr. Blues remain winless.
On Friday, Odessa Jackalopes emerged victorious over the New Jersey Titans with a 4-3 win, decided by a shootout. The Jackalopes took the lead with Gabe Pankratz and Brandon Catalano scoring in the second period, with Catalano's goal being a shorthanded highlight. Despite the Titans' effort, including a power-play goal by Nikolai Meshkantsov and another by Ty Creech, the teams were tied 3-3 at the end of regulation. Caden Ghiossi also netted for Odessa in the third period. In the shootout, Odessa's Jack L'Esperance and Melker Lovenlund found the back of the net, while goalie Colin Davis held firm, stopping two of three Titan attempts. Both goalkeepers, Colin Davis for Odessa and Andrei Nikolaev for New Jersey, were tested with 35 shots each, showcasing their skills with 32 saves apiece. Despite the loss, the Titans' Blake Jones continued his playmaking form with an assist, bringing his season tally to eight. The Jackalopes maintain a strong start to the season, now boasting a 3-1-1-0 record, while the Titans fall to 2-1-1-2, still seeking consistency in their campaign.
Saturday the New Jersey Titans edged the Watertown Shamrocks 4-3 in a back-and-forth contest on Saturday night. The Titans struck first with goals from Kristofers Krumins and Luke Schoen in the opening period, but Skogen Schrott answered for Watertown to make it 2-1 after one. In the second, New Jersey pushed its lead with tallies from Nikolas Doumas and Payton Struck, while Carter Sproule kept the Shamrocks within reach at 4-2 heading into the third. The Shamrocks closed the gap in the final frame on a goal from Carter Sproule, but Andrei Nikolaev shut the door late, finishing with 31 saves to secure the Titans' win. Mason Gudridge made 24 stops for Watertown.
