Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce players and their zany mascot Slappy will be out helping in the community over the next week.
Slappy will be ringing the Salvation Army bell at the Hardings Friendly Market at 6330 South Westnedge tomorrow, December 14th from 3-5 p.m.
On Saturday, December 17th, members of the Kalamazoo Wings will be filling boxes with non-perishable food items during the Greater Kalamazoo Area Food Drive, which will take place at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds. While the players will be on hand from 9:30-10:30 a.m., the food drive itself will commence Friday night at 6 p.m.
Later that night, the K-Wings will host the Adirondack Frostbite at 7:30 p.m. during the Sixth Annual Teddy Bear Toss game sponsored by WOTV and WKFR Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the game this Saturday. After Kalamazoo scores their first goal, all fans will be allowed to throw their bears onto the ice. The bears will be collected and donated to area children's hospitals along with the WOTV Angel Tree Foundation. The Kalamazoo Wings will be visiting Bronson Hospital next Thursday, December 22nd 1 PM. K-Wing players will be delivering some of the teddy bears collected at the Teddy Bear Toss game to children at the hospital.
Over the past five seasons, the K-Wings have collected thousands of stuffed animals that were distributed to children during the holidays.
Also on hand for Saturday's game will be television personalities Barry Melrose and Steve Levy, who will be signing autographs following the game.
On Monday, December 19th, members of the K-Wings will be back at the Hardings on South Westnedge from 1-3 p.m. ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games are available by calling the Wings Stadium Ticket Office at (269) 345-5101. Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday's from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com.
