Komets make more player moves

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today that they have added 2 rookies to the roster while giving up 2 rookies in trade. Winger Michael Wiggins and defenseman Josh VanderBreggen have been traded to Roanoke for defenseman Matt Kenny. Kenny, 25, made his professional debut this season with the Vipers skating 19 games and scoring 2 goals while accumulating 13 penalty minutes.

Wiggins completed 4 seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Superior NCAA last year and appeared in 6 games with the Komets at the end of the regular season. In 22 games this season the rookie skater scored 3 goals and 9 points with 10 penalty minutes. VanderBreggen appeared in 7 games with the Komets over the last 2 weeks (0 pts, 21 pim) after starting the year with Richmond (8 gp, 0 pts, 6 pim).

The Komets also announced today that they have acquired first year defenseman Justin Laverdiere off waivers from Elmira. Laverdiere, 22, made his pro debut with the Jackals this season registering 1 goal, 3 points and 7 penalty minutes in 11 games. Laverdiere practiced with the Komets today and may see action this weekend when the Komets host Adirondack Friday night at 8:00.
