Everett Silvertips News Release
Oh, what a week for the Everett Silvertips! The Tips' won 3 of 4 to move into 3rd place in the U.S. Division and for the first time this season move 3 games over .500 with a 19-16-7-1 record.
The Silvertips started the week off with a 3-2 thrilling victory over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday, January 7th at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, B.C. John Dahl finished the game with a goal and an assist and Martin Ruzicka added the game winner in the 3rd period for the victory. Barry Horman also added a power play goal and goaltender Jeff Harvey was solid between the pipes by making 27 saves. Vancouver outshot Everett by a margin of 29-23 in the hockey game. The Tips' went 1 for 4 on the extra man advantage and the Giants went 0 for 2 on the power play.
The Tips' were back in the friendly confines of the Everett Events Center on Friday, January 9th but was treated harshly by the visiting Spokane Chiefs. Goals by Chad Klassen, Joff Kehler, Joel Rupprecht and Jakub Langhammer led the way for the Chiefs in a 4-1 over the Silvertips. The lone Tips' goal was scored by Curtis Billsten. Everett outshot Spokane 33-18 in the hockey game. Everett went 0 for 9 on the power play and Spokane went 1 for 8 on the extra man advantage.
Everett was back in the saddle once again as the Portland WinterHawks visited the Everett Events Center on Saturday, January 10th. With the Tips' trailing 2-1 in the 3rd period, things looked very gloomy but goals by Mark Kress and Mitch Love paved the way for a come from behind 3-2 win over the Hawks. Curtis Billsten also tallied a goal and Jeff Harvey made 29 saves in the victory. Portland outshot Everett by a margin of 31-23 in the hockey game. The Silvertips went 0 for 7 on the power play and the WinterHawks went 1 for 4 on the extra man advantage.
The stage was set on Sunday, January 11th when the Tips' and Hawks faced off at Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon. The WinterHawks took a 1-0 after two periods of play and out shooting Everett 21-11 through two periods. In the 3rd stanza the Tips' took over with goals by Marc Desloges, John Dahl, and Barry Horman as the Silvertips went on to win 3-1. Martin Ruzicka added 2 assists in the win and Jeff Harvey kept his team in the game by making 29 saves. Portland outshot Everett 30-22 in the hockey game. Portland went 1 for 4 on the power play and Everett went 0 for 2 on the extra man advantage.

The Silvertips are lead in scoring by Chad Bassen (10 goals, 17 assists) with 27 points. John Dahl (16 goals, 10 assists) leads the Tips' with 16 goals scored. Chad Bassen also leads the team with 17 assists. Defenseman Mitch Love (5 goals, 8 assists) leads all defenseman with 13 points.

Tips' Past Calgary for Wins by First Year Hockey Club
With Sunday's 3-1 over the Portland WinterHawks, the Silvertips pass the 1995-96 Calgary Hitmen for victories for a first year hockey club. The Hitmen in 1995-96 finished the season with an 18-51-3 record. The record in the WHL for wins for a first year hockey club is the 1992-93 Red Deer Rebels who finished the season 31-39-2 record.
Tips' Goaltender Jeff Harvey Among the Best in the WHL
Silvertips netminder Jeff Harvey is currently in the Top 5 in three goaltending categories in the WHL. Harvey is 2nd in the WHL with a 2.03 goals against average, tied for 4th in the WHL with 3 shutouts and 4th in the WHL with a .924 save percentage.
