MONDAY: The TinCaps fell to the Lugnuts, 5-4, in a rain-shortened 7-inning game. The game went into a rain delay before the eighth inning started and after a 35-minute delay with down-pouring rain, the game was officially called.

GORE LORE: Since returning from the Disabled List with a blister issue on June 10, MacKenzie Gore has made 10 starts, and over 40 innings, has posted a 2.48 ERA with 54 strikeouts against 14 walks. Among pitchers in the MWL with 40+ innings, Gore has the 8th highest swing and miss% (17.0%).

ROSTER MOVES: The Padres have promoted infielders Owen Miller and Olivier Basabe to the TinCaps from Short-Season Tri-City. Both started last night for the Northwest League in its All-Star game against the Pioneer League with Owen at shortstop and Basabe at second base... Meanwhile, infielder Luis Almanzar was transferred down to Tri-City... On Tuesday, the Pads promoted left-handed Midwest League East Division All-Star starter Aaron Leasher from Fort Wayne to High-A Lake Elsinore... Retroactive to Monday, outfielder Robbie Podorsky has been placed on the DL with back spasms.

ROSTER NOTES: Miller was drafted by the Padres in the 3rd round of June's draft out of Illinois State. MLB.com currently rates him as San Diego's 30th-best prospect. In 49 games for Tri-City, he slashed .335/.395/.440 with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 2 homers, and 20 RBIs. The Wisconsin native was leading the NWL in hits (64) as he started 43 games at shortstop and 1 at second... Basabe grew up in Venezuela but moved to Centerville, Iowa, to attend Indian Hills Community College for 2 years. (TinCaps hitting coach Jonathan Mathews went to Indian Hills as well and coached there from 2000-12. Padres Amateur Scouting Director Mark Conner once coached there, too.) Basabe then went to Faulkner University (NAIA) in Montgomery, Alabama, to play the 2017 season, after which he was drafted by the Pads in the 8th round. With Tri-City, Basabe was at .313/.371/.480 with 13 doubles and 4 home runs and 28 RBIs in 40 games... Leasher leaves with the 8th lowest ERA in the league (3.32). He also ranked 5th in HR/9 (0.46), 7th in FIP (3.62), and 9th in K/9 (8.85)... Since making his season debut for the TinCaps on May 18, Podorsky has hit .366 in 57 games. That's not just the best average in the MWL in that range, but 2nd in MiLB. He's top 10 in the league for the season in stolen bases with 23, too.

260 TO THE SHOW: The Padres called up 2016 TinCaps right-handed reliever Trey Wingenter from Triple-A El Paso Sunday. Wingenter pitched in 8 games for the 'Caps in May of 2016, posting a 0.82 ERA across 11 innings with 14 strikeouts. Brett Kennedy will start tonight for San Diego in Milwaukee to make his MLB debut as well. Kennedy made 6 starts for the TinCaps in April and May of 2016. He logged a 2.54 ERA with 38 Ks in 28.1 IP. Wingenter and Kennedy raise the count of former Fort Wayne players to reach the majors to 169.

ROSARIO ON THE RISE: Jeisson Rosario had a 12-game on-base streak end Sunday. Nevertheless, the 18-year-old who slashed .269/.381/.322 in the first half, is at is at .288/.375/.403 in 38 games since the All-Star break.

SUWI 3: Friday was the first time in 82 games this season that Jack Suwinski batted 3rd. In 125 games last year he hit 3rd once. Tonight is his 5th consecutive game in the 3-hole. Meanwhile, he's hit safely in 7 consecutive games, going 10-for-24 (.417) with 5 doubles, 2 homers, and 7 RBIs.

HEATING UP: Gabriel Arias is on a career-best 16-game on-base streak. Going back to July 19, the 18-year-old from Venezuela is slashing .316/.400/.509 with 5 doubles, 2 homers, 8 RBIs, a stolen base, and 8 walks.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Osvaldo Hernandez has the MWL's lowest ERA (1.92)... Jeisson Rosario is tied for 6th in runs (67), 9th in OBP (.379), and 8th in walks (55) ... Esteury Ruiz is 4th in stolen bases (37).

IN CONTROL: TinCaps pitchers have walked the fewest batters in the Midwest League this season - only 3.0 BB/9. Fort Wayne also has the best ratio of strikeouts to walks (3.10/1).

ROAD WOES: The TinCaps are 20-33 (.377) on the road this season compared to 31-28 (.525) at Parkview Field. At home, the team is batting .260 and averaging 4.6 runs/game. On the road, the team has hit .223 with 3.7 R/G.

ON THE SHELF: The TinCaps currently have 5 key players on the Disabled List in catcher Luis Campusano (mild concussion), starting pitcher Mason Thompson (tricep strain), infielder Justin Lopez (broken left thumb), and outfielders Robbie Podorsky (back) and Tirso Ornelas (right wrist).
