
Dragons Broadcaster to Call 4,000th Career Game Tonight

DAYTON, OHIO-Dayton Dragons radio/television broadcaster Tom Nichols will call his 4,000th career professional baseball game tonight when the Dragons meet the Lansing Lugnuts in Lansing, Michigan.
Nichols, who is in his 11th year as the "voice of the Dragons," began his Minor League Baseball broadcasting career with the Indianapolis Indians in 1988. He joined the Dragons prior to the 2008 season and also serves as the team's Director of Media Relations.
Since his career began, Nichols' "home teams" have included future members of the National Baseball Hall-of-Fame Randy Johnson (Indianapolis, 1988) and Jim Thome (Kinston Indians, 1990) as well as 11 other future big league all-stars. They include Larry Walker, Torii Hunter, Jake Peavy, Matt Lawton, A.J. Pierzynski, Matt Clement, Gary Matthews Jr., Jason Bay, and former Dragons Todd Frazier, Zack Cozart, Devin Mesoraco.
Nichols has worked at all three levels of Minor League Baseball including Triple-A with Indianapolis (1988-89); Double-A with Mobile (1997-2004); Single-A with Kinston (1990), Peoria (1991-92), Fort Wayne (1993-96), and Dayton (2008-present); and independent professional baseball with Gary (2005-2007).
